An exciting initiative by Southern Tablelands Arts is breathing new life into public spaces with the creation of ‘Box Galleries,’ providing a unique platform for local artists to share their work. These miniature galleries, installed across the Southern Tablelands, are making art more accessible while spotlighting the incredible talent within the community.

One of the most recent additions is the Bowral Box Gallery, nestled in the foyer of the Bowral Public Library. The opening celebration, hosted by Southern Tablelands Arts, was a fantastic success, drawing in art lovers from across the region. At the heart of this event was local sculptor and Pop-Up Project member, Corinne Dany from Corinne Dany Studios, whose work was chosen to be exhibited in this brand-new gallery space.

Corinne’s powerful sculpture, The Gift of Despair, was unveiled during the event, captivating those in attendance with its deep emotional resonance. As part of the celebration, Corinne gave a heartfelt artist’s talk, sharing the personal story behind the piece and its significance to her creative journey. The sculpture, now on display for the next three months in Bowral, will then embark on a tour across other Box Galleries in the Southern Tablelands—an opportunity for her art to reach even more people.

This new Bowral Box Gallery is just one of many, all designed to enrich local communities and offer emerging and established artists alike the chance to exhibit in accessible, everyday settings. Corinne’s participation is a testament to her talent and a proud moment for The Pop-Up Project, which continues to support and showcase artists like her. Visitors to the library will not only experience her work but also discover the incredible stories behind each piece, turning everyday errands into a cultural experience.

If you’re in Bowral or any of the Southern Tablelands regions, be sure to visit the Box Galleries. They are proof that art can exist beyond traditional walls, enriching public spaces and bringing creativity to the forefront of community life. Corinne’s The Gift of Despair is on display now—don’t miss your chance to witness this stunning work up close.
