With two decades of study and educating herself Jan captures our beautiful Southern Highlands landscapes. After living for years overlooking a vineyard, Jan paints the hills, the clouds and her divine views. The expansive landscape and the cloud formations inspire her to create large space- filled artworks. Jan’s other passion is silversmithing: designing and creating elegant wearable pieces.
Jan has resided in the Southern Highlands for two decades and her watercolour paintings reflect the movement, colour, drama, intensity and light of the sky and landscape. Recently Jan has moved into abstract artworks working with ink and enhancing each with gold which results in a rich, luxurious work.

Monique Turczynski – Monique Turczynski Fine Art
Monique has always felt a strong affinity with the creative arts and grew up spending every spare moment writing music, singing, acting and of course, creating visual art. Despite its spontaneous nature and abstract style, she sees shapes and colours in fluid art that, to her, are reminiscent of the ocean, rock pools and galaxies. “I hope my work inspires the same sense of tranquillity, imagination and joy that can be found in our beautiful, natural world”.

I work out of my studio in Alpine in the Southern Highlands and have been potting since 1984. I created my studio in an old packing shed in the garden in 1990.
I mainly create production pottery such as jugs, bowls, plates, mugs, platters and one off vases. Fired either in wood or gas kilns. I also make tableware for home and commercial use using high fire glazes that are food safe and dishwasher hardy.
I use an old dough mixer to mix clay and work mainly in stoneware and terracotta.

Negin Chahoud explores her emotional journey as a refugee from Iran in her art practice. She gives voice to her courageous story through multi-layered, mixed media artworks on paper and paintings and creates intricate, semi-abstract artworks with a strong narrative.
Each element of Negin’s work is carefully selected including the process of which the paper or canvas has come to life. The staining, mark-marking, harsh and sometimes raw tearing and stitching are all meaningful to the narrative. Each piece not only showcases part of her history but also reflects on her journey to healing and the inspiration she draws from her natural surroundings.

My style has been heavily influenced by the things that I loved unapologetically as a teenager as well as a few other gems that I have picked up on the way to middle age. I feel that when I grew up and became an adult I entered this world of grey and beige. Stuck in uniforms ,representing an organisation or an agenda rather than expressing who I was or wanted to be.
In my reinvention of myself I have embraced the things I love without the shame of being daggy, silly or different. My works are diverse but are all linked through the joy they ooze and the use of bright colour and distinct mark making.
