Studio In the Southern Highlands Arts Trail

Jan Pooley-Hibberd is an award-winning artist and National Art School graduate who has spent the past two decades immersed in the rich natural beauty of the Southern Highlands. Her Moss Vale studio is a reflection of her deep connection to the land, the sky, and the ever-changing light that sweeps across the region’s hills and open plains. Originally living in a home that overlooked a vineyard, Jan found endless inspiration in the rolling hills, cloud formations, and expansive skies that surrounded her. These elements continue to influence her work today. Her watercolour paintings are known for capturing the movement, colour, drama, and intensity of the landscape – evoking a deep emotional response in the viewer. In recent years, Jan has expanded her creative expression through abstract ink works, often enhanced with the luxurious shimmer of gold. These contemporary pieces offer a fresh interpretation of the natural world, blending fluidity and form with a bold, modern edge. Jan’s creative talents also extend to the art of silversmithing. In her studio, she designs and handcrafts elegant, wearable pieces that reflect the same refined aesthetic and attention to detail found in her visual art. With a lifelong dedication to learning and evolving as an artist, Jan finds pure joy in sharing her work with others. Her Moss Vale studio invites visitors into her creative sanctuary – a space filled with inspiration, beauty, and a passion for storytelling through art.
