Studio In the Southern Highlands Arts Trail

Nestled in the historic village of Kangaroo Valley, The Old School House is the shared creative space of artists Max Miller and Janie Bligh. Steeped in character and surrounded by natural beauty, the heritage-listed building offers a unique setting for their artistic practices. Max’s work draws on his deep connection to the Australian landscape, exploring place and memory through detailed, evocative imagery. Janie brings a painterly sensitivity to her work, often inspired by nature, light, and quiet moments of reflection. Together, their works bring a complementary energy to the studio, one grounded in experience, curiosity, and a love of the land. Visitors to the Old School House are invited to step inside this atmospheric space, view works in progress, and engage with two distinct yet connected creative journeys.
