Laurence KIMMEL (she/her) is a lecturer in architecture, an author, a curator and an artist. She is using oil painting to express architectural visions of Threshold spaces and liminal spaces. Her work on abstract landscapes, topologies and interconnections of spaces is enhanced by contrasted materialities, gradients and lines that are perceived as ‘cuts’ between spaces. Inspiration comes from architectures in France and Australia.
She published a book in 2021 entitled ‘Architecture of Threshold Spaces’ (Routledge, London). She is currently teaching Architecture and Design at UNSW and University of Western Sydney.
She is currently working on the theme of Architecture of Exile.
