Heidi McGeoch

Exhibiting In the Southern Highlands Arts Trail

Curiosity is at the heart of Heidi McGeoch’s creative practice. From an early age, she has been drawn to the textures, forms, and quiet narratives of her immediate surroundings. Whether it’s the curve of a branch, the patina of aged metal, or the play of light on a weathered surface, Heidi finds inspiration in the overlooked details of daily life and the natural world. Working primarily with metal and clay, Heidi creates one-off sculptural and functional pieces that entertain, provoke thought, and speak to the environments they emerge from. Her works are often playful, yet grounded—anchored in a strong sense of place and personal connection. Each piece is an exploration of material, form, and story; a dialogue between the artist, the medium, and the world around her. Heidi’s process is intuitive and tactile, embracing imperfection and spontaneity while honouring the craftsmanship required by her chosen materials. Whether hammering metal or shaping clay, she allows the material to guide her—responding in the moment to its possibilities and limitations. Through her practice, Heidi invites viewers to see the familiar in new ways and to engage with the subtle beauty and humour found in everyday life.
