Jemma MacDonald Ceramics

Jemma MacDonald Ceramics

Exhibiting In the Southern Highlands Arts Trail

Jemma MacDonald is an interdisciplinary artist primarily working with clay, creating functional and sculptural ceramic vessels and forms, and basketry from foraged fibres. Central to her practice is the exploration of inner and outer landscapes and the cyclical nature of creation. Jemma gathers materials from around her home in Mittagong and through her travels; harvesting local clay, rocks, pigments, ash, wood, plants, and fibres for use in all her work. She is inspired by the elemental and alchemical nature of ceramics, the bush and more than human world, the beauty of vessels, and their capacity for ritual, connection and storytelling.
