Bowral District Children’s Foundation presents the Best of City and Country Art (BOCCA) Prize!

The BOCCA Art Prize is a non-acquisitive art & sculpture prize awarded by Bowral District Children’s Foundation.

All finalists works will be for sale and a minimum of 30% commission donation will go towards caring for our local children’s health and well being.

The BOCCA Art Prize is in its third year and has gained a following across Australia after its successful inaugural exhibition held in Bowral, NSW in 2022.

The collective prize of $11,000 is open to all artists who reside in Australia.

The Bowral District Children’s Foundation (BDCF) committee partnering with EA Experience and The Pop-Up Project are responsible for the presentation of the event and Exhibition.

Opening night for the exhibition of finalists will be held at Bowral Art Gallery exhibition space, 1 Short Street Bowral.

The exhibition is open to the public 10am – 4pm from Saturday 23 March through to the Tuesday 26 March 2024.

This year there will be an online exhibition via the Pop-Up Project website where ALL artworks will be on display and available for sale. This will launch 23 March 2024 and will close for sales 26 March 2024.

Entries for the prize close 5pm, 8 March 2024.

Entering the BOCCA

  • Entry is open Friday, 8 December
  • Any medium, 2D or 3D and must be the original work of the signed artist

  • Any artwork or sculpture, original work of the artist, executed entirely in the 12 months prior to entry closing date, not exhibited previously in a BOCCA prize or exhibition.


  • 2D artworks must not exceed 1.25m Width x 1.8m Height on outside
  • Measurement of frame, and are subject to a maximum weight restriction of 15kg
  • All 2D artworks must either be framed or on a stretched canvas.
  • Works must be suitably prepared for hanging, with 2 D-rings 10 – 15cm from top of work.
  • It is preferable if the D Rings are clear of wire or cord.
  • A label is to be attached by string to hang down below the art work (for cataloguing purposes) showing: Name of Artist, Title, Medium & Price. This information must be duplicated on the back of the work.

Image Upload

  • To be included in the online gallery exhibition you must submit an Image file of your artwork. It must be no smaller than 1MB and no bigger than 2Mb.

Delivery and Collection

  • Entrants must arrange for delivery and collection of works at the specified times.
  • Any work not collected within 30 days of closure of the exhibition may be disposed of at the discretion of the BDCF Committee.
  • Delivery: You may deliver your artworks between Wednesday 20 March between 10am and 4pm.
  • All works must have a label attached giving artist’s name, title of work, medium & price of work for cataloguing purposes.
  • Desired locations for sculptures will be taken into consideration, but not guaranteed. The Curator has the final decision on the placement of works.
  • All exhibitors will be responsible for the transport of their work to and from the BDAS grounds. Exhibitors are responsible for all costs associated with manufacture, freight, installation, and insurance of their own works.
  • Exhibiting artists will be responsible for the installation and dismantling of their sculptures if special installation requirements are involved.

Entry Fee

  • $45 per artwork (including GST), non-refundable. Entry fee must be paid at time of entry.
