Discover Creativity and Talent in the Heart of the Highlands I Southern Highlands | 9-10 & 16-17 November 2024

The much-anticipated Southern Highlands Arts Trail is back for its 14th consecutive year, inviting art lovers, curious explorers, and the broader community to experience the vibrant local art scene like never before. With 48 studios opening their doors across two weekends in November, the Arts Trail provides an opportunity to engage directly with talented local artists, explore their creative spaces, and purchase original works right from the source.

Taking place on Saturday and Sunday, 10 am – 4 pm, the Arts Trail will feature two weekends of inspiration on the 9th-10th and 16th-17th of November. Art enthusiasts will have the chance to explore a diverse range of mediums, from painting and sculpture to photography, ceramics, textiles, and more. Nestled in the picturesque landscapes of the Southern Highlands, the event offers not only artistic exploration but also a chance to enjoy the region’s natural beauty, boutique shops, and warm hospitality.

“The Southern Highlands Arts Trail is a highlight of our cultural calendar, and we are thrilled to celebrate our 14th year,” said Ms. Suzanne Hannema, representing Wingecarribee Shire Council. “It’s a fantastic opportunity for the community to engage with the incredible talent we have here, and for visitors to discover the artistic treasures of the Highlands.”

A Personal Connection with Artists

The Arts Trail’s Open Studios format offers a rare chance to meet artists in their personal creative environments, providing insight into the processes behind their work. This intimate interaction allows visitors to not only witness the craftsmanship but also purchase original pieces directly from the artists themselves.

“Open Studios continues to give the public a rare opportunity to meet the makers, see their work in the environment where it was created, and buy directly from the studio door,” said Erin Adams, from EA Experience, who is assisting the Wingecarribee Shire Council with this flagship event.

Visitors will embark on a journey through the Highlands, uncovering hidden gems and interacting with artists in charming villages and rural settings. From delicate pottery to bold sculptures, the Arts Trail showcases diverse artistic expressions for every taste, offering something to delight everyone, whether you’re a seasoned art collector or just looking for an inspiring day out.
