When: April – May 2025
Where: Centennial Vineyards Cellar Door, Southern Highlands
Open daily 10 am – 5 pm (last wine tastings at 4 pm)
The Pop-Up Project is proud to present a vibrant dual exhibition at Centennial Vineyards Cellar Door throughout April and May, featuring ceramicist Tessa Hoser and painter Jan Pooley-Hibberd. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of rolling vineyards in the heart of the Southern Highlands, this residency is a true celebration of nature, place and artistic expression.
Tessa Hoser – Earth, Form and Storytelling
Tessa Hoser, a celebrated Australian ceramicist, brings her evocative exhibition Banksia Bullets to life during this special residency. Known for her wheel-thrown and handbuilt forms, Tessa explores the harmony of texture, colour and contrast in pieces that honour the imperfect beauty of the natural world. Her work draws deep inspiration from the misty farmland and rich soils of Gundungurra country near Robertson, NSW, translating the ruggedness of the land into raw and soulful ceramics.
Her latest collection invites viewers to reflect on the intersection between indigenous flora and colonial landscapes. Banksia Bullets uses rich earth tones, stippled textures and sculptural contrasts to express resilience, survival and history. Tessa’s award-winning work has featured in leading exhibitions across Australia and overseas, including the prestigious 2024 Pottery Expo in Warrandyte.

Jan Pooley-Hibberd – Ink, Sky and Light
Joining Tessa in this seasonal exhibition is Southern Highlands artist Jan Pooley-Hibberd, whose work captures the emotion and movement of the land from an entirely different medium. Jan brings over two decades of creative practice to her luminous watercolours and bold abstract ink pieces, which evoke the drama and wonder of ever-changing skies and open fields.
A longtime Highlands local, Jan is deeply connected to the region’s expansive views and sweeping cloudscapes. Her works are grounded in experience – years spent living beside vineyards and observing nature’s rhythms have led her to create artworks full of light, space and energy. Recently, she has begun exploring abstract forms in ink, enriched with touches of gold for depth and luxury. A graduate of the National Art School and an award-winning artist, Jan brings a mature, elegant voice to this exhibition.
Nature, Movement and Creative Dialogue
Together, Tessa and Jan create a rich dialogue between clay and canvas, contrast and colour, stillness and movement. Visitors to the Centennial Vineyards Cellar Door will encounter a unique pairing: the grounded tactility of ceramics side-by-side with luminous, atmospheric paintings – both deeply rooted in the natural world.
Whether you are an art enthusiast, a wine lover, or someone seeking inspiration from nature and creativity, this exhibition offers something special. Wander the vines, sip a glass of cool-climate wine, and let yourself be moved by the thoughtful artistry of two local creatives.
Open daily from 10 AM – 5 PM, with final wine tastings at 4 PM. Don’t miss this chance to explore a compelling connection between place, art and experience.
